What to Do if You’ve Been Exposed, Are Sick, or Caring for Someone with COVID-19

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected millions of people around the world. If you’ve been exposed to the virus, are sick, or are caring for someone who has been infected, it’s important to take appropriate measures to protect yourself and others. Here are some steps you can take:

Get Tested:

If you’ve been exposed to COVID-19 or have symptoms, get tested as soon as possible. This will help you know your status and take necessary precautions.

Isolate Yourself:

If you’ve tested positive for COVID-19 or have symptoms, isolate yourself from others to prevent the spread of the virus. Stay in a separate room and use a separate bathroom if possible.

Notify Close Contacts:

If you’ve tested positive or have symptoms, notify those you’ve been in close contact with. They should get test and take necessary precautions.

Follow Public Health Guidelines:

Follow the guidelines issued by public health officials, including wearing a mask, practicing social distancing, washing your hands frequently, and avoiding gatherings.

Seek Medical Attention:

If you’re experiencing severe symptoms, seek medical attention immediately.

How Long Are You Contagious with COVID-19?

COVID-19 is a highly contagious virus, and it’s important to know how long you may be contagious if you become infected. The contagious period can vary based on several factors, including your symptoms and the severity of your illness.

If you test positive for COVID-19 but don’t have symptoms, you may still be contagious for up to 10 days after your test. If you develop symptoms, you may be contagious for up to 10 days after your symptoms first appeared, as long as your symptoms are improving and you have not had a fever for 24 hours without using fever-reducing medication.

By following these steps, you can help prevent the spread of COVID-19 and protect yourself and those around you.
