Margherita Hack – The Pioneering Italian Astrophysicist

Margherita Hack was a pioneering Italian astrophysicist, activist, and politician. She was born in Florence, Italy, in 1922 and passed away in 2013. Hack was a prominent figure in the scientific community and contributed significantly to the field of astrophysics.

Hack earned her degree in physics from the University of Florence in 1945.

After graduation, she began her career at the Arcetri Observatory in Florence, where she worked on the study of the chemical composition of stars. She continued her research at various institutes across Europe, including the Max Planck Institute for Physics and Astrophysics in Munich, Germany.
